First Day at Youthfront
It’s official! As of yesterday, October 1, I am a full-time employee of Youthfront! I am excited and grateful to begin this new journey. So how was my first day? It was great!
I was warmly welcomed by the staff, and I dove right into the activities of the first day. We began with devotions and our weekly all-staff meeting, followed by some orientation, moving into my office, etc. I love the daily rhythm. Right before lunch we gather in the prayer room for mid day prayer. And then lunch is shared around a common table. I was treated to some Oklahoma Joes (just a few blocks away, which might be dangerous) and then began working on my two biggest priorities. Already I am beginning the work of producing content for camp next summer. I am privileged to get to collaborate with some great minds in youth ministry. My other priority right now is to finish building my support team. Since July, Sheila and I have been meeting with friends and family, inviting them to be partners in my ministry at Youthfront. To date we are right up against the 60% level! My goal is to be completely funded by mid-November (six weeks away).
A little update on Indian Creek Community Church: I have begun serving as interim director of student ministry. I will remain in this role for up to three more months while the church continues the search process to find my successor. This has been a healthy and smooth transition, and I am thankful for how well it’s gone moving from the church to Youthfront. Thanks for your prayers and support!
